No Cookridge Street Jazz Festival tent this year so JazzLeeds are bringing open air jazz to the Seven Arts courtyard on Sunday 24 May featuring the young Leeds band “Fight the Giant”

“Fight The Giant” blend dancy grooves with heavy bass riffs and rich harmonies. The band features an international award-winning rhythm section, including Jascha Bingham, a classically influenced pianist renowned for his emotive improvisation, Sean Blake, a double bassist who merges his experiences in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, as well as previous punk projects to bring the same intensity to jazz, and Adam Scott, a rock drummer at heart again moving to jazz, focusing on energetic grooves and creative rhythms.

The front line includes Oli Cripps, trumpet player who grew up on the London jazz scene learning his trade from some of the greats of this generation, and Louis Cryer, originally a classical guitarist who now integrates technology to create unique guitar tones and melodies. Together, these musicians, create a dynamic fusion of diverse genres and musical ideologies, pushing modern fusion in a new direction.

Music from 1.30pm – Payf collection

Musicians: Oli Cripps Trumpet, Louis Cryer Guitar, Jascha Bingham Keyboards, Sean Blake Bass, Adam Scott Drums
